Land surveying is among the oldest and most captivating professions known to mankind and plays a critical role in determining land ownership and facilitating land transactions. It is a vital function to Cowan Group Engineering (CGE), and as a Field Survey Technician you’ll play a crucial role in supporting professional licensed surveyors in their various duties related to civil engineering services. While experience is preferred, we are willing to train the right candidate.

What You’ll Do

• Work outdoors to collect accurate data and measurements essential for the planning, design and construction of various projects
• Operate surveying instruments such as total stations, GPS equipment, and laser measuring devices to gather precise measurements and information
• Collaborate with Survey Party Chief and licensed surveyors to analyze data and ensure accuracy
• Assist in marking points, boundaries and reference markers on the ground to guide construction activities and ensure alignment with project plans
• Maintain accurate and organized field notes, sketches and records of activities
• Adhere to safety protocols while maintaining awareness of potential hazards
• Collaborate effectively with survey team and project managers to ensure that project goals are met

• Willingness to work overtime and travel for projects, with some overnight travel required
• Basic understanding of math and attention to detail

• Active, valid driver’s license and clean driving record
